Origins

SLAM was founded in 2002 based on the desire to express oneself through hip hop culture and to promote an awareness of hip-hop dance through performance, as well as building confidence, leadership, and team unity. Members are expected to maintain and uphold the creed and foundation upon which SLAM was established. The team is committed to the education of the hip-hop history and culture and fostering of artistic talent and expression through music and dance. SLAM encourages students of the dance and hip hop community to passionately pursue and further develop their talents both in individual and group choreography, freestyle, and performance.

Slam Showcase

we are an active member of a larger community

During the Fall Semester, SLAM hosts a Hip Hop Showcase and benefit that features groups from all over the Baltimore and DMV areas. Each group brings its own style and flavor that culminates into a unique definition of hip hop. All proceeds from the showcase are donated to Baltimore Dance Crews Project, a non-profit organization that provides dance opportunities to the Baltimore Community.
